The SFFA today launched their Tell Two Friends campaign, a referral program aimed at continuing their recruitment drive to encourage interested individuals and families to become foster homes for vulnerable children.

Referral Program Details

For the month of January, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services is highlighting the $200.00 referral incentive to current foster families for every successful foster family referral they make. Two short call-to-action videos urging people to Tell Two Friends are being released on social media.

“Word of mouth is a very powerful tool,” SFFA Executive Director Deb Davies said. “That’s why we are asking everyone to tell two friends they would make great foster parents. Hopefully they will tell two friends and the message will spread.”

“The videos are aimed at both current foster families and anyone who knows somebody who would make a great foster parent but maybe needs a little nudge and encouragement,” said Social Services Minister Tina Beaudry-Mellor. “All kinds of people and family units could potentially be a good fit and we have one of the best training programs in the world to prepare people to take on the role of foster parent.”

SFFA Tell Two Friends Campaign - Minister Edition

The SFFA is a community-based organization that provides support for prospective and approved foster parents across Saskatchewan. They jointly deliver training with the Ministry of Social Services. The organization employs approximately 160 people across the province to aid in that training, and to provide in-home supports for foster families.

Since September, over 250 requests for information packages from people interested in becoming foster parents province wide have come in and many families are now in the approval or training process, however the need for more foster families in Saskatchewan is still significant.

“We really need people to like and share our videos; so we can keep this momentum going,” Davies said.
