SGI Donates Books to Foster Children

20-Dec-2011

SGI is giving the gift of imagination to children across the province with a donation of $10,000 worth of books to the Saskatchewan Foster Families Association (SFFA).

Andrew Cartmell of SGI presents Deb Davies of the Saskatchewan Foster Families Association with over 2,700 books for foster children across the province.

In addition to SGI’s corporate donation, SGI employees throughout Saskatchewan also contributed books to the cause. In total, more than 2,700 books were donated to the SFFA, ranging in topics for ages newborn to 16 years of age.

“SGI is committed to giving back to the communities where we do business and we can always count on our employees’ dedication to making a difference,” said Andrew Cartmell, President and CEO of SGI. “It’s heartwarming to give these deserving children something to read over the holidays.”

“A sincere thank you to SGI for its generous donation,” said Deb Davies, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Foster Families Association. “A lot of times, children are removed from their homes and don’t have many personal belongings with them. These books will give kids something to hold onto while providing hours of education and enjoyment.”

Last holiday season, SGI purchased items for the children’s wards of nine hospitals across the province.
