2018 TED ROGERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND APPLICATIONS OPEN FEB 1st!

2018 TED ROGERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND APPLICATIONS OPEN FEB 1st! Application deadline: March 11, 11:59pm EST Information + application en français ici Dear partners, For the second year, we are proud to be offering the Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund for Canadian youth with any government care experience starting their first post-secondary program. We offer this scholarship in addition to our flagship Children's Aid Foundation of Canada scholarship, with which you may be familiar. The Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund (TRSF) aims to provide access to post-secondary education and reward youth who demonstrate community leadership. The TRSF applications will launch February 1st, awarding 150 young people through 14 national partner organizations, including 20 students through the Children's Aid Foundation of Canada. The Foundation's TRSF scholarships are designed to reach youth community leaders entering their first post-secondary program who have been affected by child welfare. This includes all types of care or youth custody, not just those with permanent care/Crown Ward designations. You may know students who are eligible to apply for this scholarship and use the funds in addition to any scholarship/bursary funding they are receiving from us or other sources. We would appreciate your help to circulate this opportunity with the attached posters to your networks and youth widely ASAP-- the March 11th deadline is coming up very fast! Find out more and view the application on our website, now in both English and French. What's different about this scholarship? Unlike other scholarships for youth in or from care, for this national scholarship: • Students do not need permanent care/Crown Ward status for this scholarship; it is open to anyone who experienced 12 cumulative months in government care, including foster care and youth custody centres • Students are guaranteed renewed funding for the length of their 2-4 year program totalling up to $10,000 • Students must be starting their first 2-4 year undergraduate program in September, 2018 • Funds will be transferred directly to the school • Students may use funding in conjunction with any other scholarship or funding source, including other Children's Aid Foundation of Canada scholarships • Students are guaranteed Rogers retail, call-centre and/or internship job interviews if they apply to any of those postings during their program and upon graduation • Enrolment and community leadership, not grades, are a criterion for recipient selection PLEASE NOTE: My colleague, Lisa Mickleborough, oversees this scholarship, so please direct any questions and concerns to her: lmickleborough@cafdn.org | 416-923-0924 X215. More details, including eligibility on the website and in the posters, below. Thank you for your help spreading the word!
